Bethnal Green Road

Our story
British roots, a respect for useful work, and a modern team of highly skilled professionals serving North Fulton.

The Williams in the family tree
The Cockett family tree is full of Williams. Across generations they made their living as engineers, cabinetmakers and furniture makers — people whose reputations depended on practical judgement, precision and pride in the finished result.
In the early nineteenth century, William Cockett earned his living as a bedstead maker near Bethnal Green Road. His sons followed him into the furniture trade; one later described himself as a cabinetmaker, and the craft continued through his son and grandson. Later, William Samuel Cockett worked as a motor engineer in Walthamstow — another life built around understanding how things work and putting them right.
That is the spirit carried forward at Cockett & Co.: understand the problem, choose the right method, respect the material and leave the work properly finished.

The mark of the maker
Our crest brings together the tools of the trade, oak leaves and the Cockett name. Inspired by British heraldry, it is our modern maker’s mark: a name placed on work that we are prepared to own.
For generations, makers marked what left their benches because their reputation travelled with it. We hold ourselves to the same idea. The work should be sound, the finish considered and the responsibility clear.
A working inheritance
Three chapters in one practical family tradition.
William Cockett was recorded working as a bedstead maker in London’s East End, amid the workshops and furniture trades of Bethnal Green and Shoreditch.
Sons and descendants carried the trade forward, building livelihoods around timber, joinery and the judgement of the trained hand.
William Samuel Cockett worked as a motor engineer, continuing the family habit of understanding mechanisms and solving practical problems.
One man at the bench
The camping photograph shows my grandfather as a young man. We have used it here to imagine him in the kind of workshop that belongs naturally to the family story: sleeves rolled, plane in hand, timber on the bench.
This is a creative reconstruction from an original family photograph, not a claim that the scene itself was photographed at the time. Its purpose is to honour the character of a generation for whom making, mending and practical competence were simply part of life.
Care · judgement · skilled hands

Cockett & Co. today
Cockett & Co. Property Services brings together a trusted team of highly skilled professionals to support homeowners and real estate agents across Alpharetta, Milton and North Fulton.
Some projects need one careful pair of hands. Others need several trades working in the right order. Our role is to understand the job, match the right people to it, communicate clearly and keep an eye on the finish.
The Cockett standard
A home remembers the quality of the work done to it. Doors reveal whether they were hung with patience. Mitres show whether somebody cared. Paint tells you whether the preparation was rushed. The smallest details have a habit of speaking the loudest.
We believe in beginning with a clear understanding of the job, not a hurried assumption. We believe the right professional should do the right work. And we believe good communication is part of craftsmanship, not an administrative extra.
For a real estate agent, that means a dependable partner who can turn an inspection report into an organised plan. For a homeowner, it means confidence that the house will be respected and the work will be seen through.
The Cockett name is our maker’s mark. It represents a straightforward promise: capable people, thoughtful work and a finish we are prepared to stand behind.
